Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
