Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
